SCOTLAND V BELGIUM UNDER 15s INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY

The venue for last nights game was  Bayview Stadium, Methil the home of Scottish third division champions East Fife F.C. With two players from STVV in the Belgian squad, Pieter Thierie and Hendrik Van Crombrugge, we felt it was our duty to go and give them some support. New recruit to the Scottish Kanaries Ken Morton made the trip down to Methil, his first and hopefully not his last.

Due to High winds the Forth road bridge was closed to high sided vehicles which led to the Scottish team bus taking an alternative route and  being caught up in an 13K traffic jam delaying the kick off for 90 minutes. So that gave us enough time to go for a beer and get thrown out of the VIP area!!

Aided by the wind Scotland took the game to Belgium in the first half and had a number of good efforts on goal, on the 13th minute they took the lead when John Young (Celtic) headed in a corner that was taken from the left by Nicholas Main (Rangers). Scotland could have added to their goal but were unable to capitalize on their pressure.

The Belgians came into the game in the second half With captain Mats Rita (GBA) running the show with only a mixture of good goalkeeping and though tackling stopping them from getting the equliser. With 3 minutes left Scotland added the second goal, Greame McGregor (Falkirk) scoring with a well struck shot from 12 yards after a good run and cut back from Jamie Walker (Hearts) .

Goalkeeper Hendrik Van Crombrugge was an unused substitute but Pieter Thierie played the full game at centre back and did well against a couple of big strikers.
