Interview Roy Dittrich

Football club Sint-Truiden has a new supporters' club. Nothing special at first sight, if it weren't for the fact that the new fan club is from Scotland. Roy Dittrich created the KSTVV Scottish Supporters' Club in St Andrews.

The foreign fan club is unique to Sint-Truiden, a club that only has some 9 supporters' clubs in total. Most of them are located in St-Truiden and there are not from outside the province of Limburg. How did these Scots end up supporting a team from the bottom of the Jupiler League ? 'It all started as a pure coincidence', Roy Dittrich says. "I was on holiday in St-Truiden, without even having a clue where it was exactly. When I was there, I visited Staaien. It was love at first sight. Now Sint-Truiden is my second home'.

So, the Scotsman came back and brought his friend. "We plan at least 2 to 3 trips per year. I myself have seen quite some matches. this season, I was at the game against Bruges. Some of our Scottish members travelled to the away game in Mons. I will certainly be over for the derby game against Standard de Liège.' In the meantime, the foreign supporters' club has six member, but the president is aiming to expand the STVV mania in St Andrews. 'Saturday, our board (four persons) are invited at the anniversary party of the Grankanaria Supporters' Club in Belgium. There our fan club will officially be presented. I will try to sell some membership card that night. We hope to get some 100 members, both Scottish and Belgian fans'.

Reaction Rocky Peeters
Dittrich, who speaks some Dutch already, would also like to involve the players in the fan club. " I am going to ask midfielder Rocky Peeters to become an honorary member". A good idea, according to Peeters: "I am honoured. My mother is from Glasgow and half of my family lives in Scotland. I was over there on holiday during the last Christmas period. It is quite funny. My cousins, who were also present at the Bruges game, are walking around in St Truiden jerseys over there'
